Description

Job Summary:
Emergency Room Nurse in Schenectady, New York. This position involves providing advanced emergency care on a night shift basis, with schedule hours from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, every other weekend. The role requires floating to the Emergency Department Observation Unit and assures a dynamic environment serving a diverse patient population with a range of urgent and chronic medical needs.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Current New York State nursing license; Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications; at least 1 year of Emergency Room experience (or 2 years for automatic consideration); recent Nursys record in application packet
  • Preferred Qualifications: Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) and Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certifications; CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification
  • Float: Float rotation to ED Observation Unit may be required
  • Additional Information: The unit is a 70-bed facility with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5 serving a wide demographic. The environment includes specialty areas such as cardiac, neurologic, and psychiatric crisis services, with experienced staff available around the clock to address complex healthcare needs. This role involves various clinical procedures including drips, infusions, phlebotomy, starting IVs, EKGs, transports, and medication administration. RTO requests of four days or less will be considered, with restrictions on holiday time off.
