Job Summary:
Step Down Unit Nurse in Wheeling, West Virginia. This position involves providing specialized patient care in a designated step down setting with a focus on post-operative and cardiac patients. The role requires clinical expertise to manage complex patients within a dynamic healthcare environment.

Job Details:

• Shift: 12-hour rotating shifts, including day and night rotations, with weekends scheduled as part of the rotation.
• Schedule: 12-hour day/night rotate, weekends as scheduled.
• Required Qualifications: Licensure to submit; ACLS and BLS certifications; minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience.
• Specialty: Step Down Unit, providing care for patients with diverse diagnoses such as cardiac, post-operative, and pulmonary conditions.
• Responsibilities: Managing patients with conditions including bradycardia, A-fib, CHF, NSTEMI, PVD, PE, CVA/TIA, and post-operative procedures such as lobectomy and chest tube management. RNs are required to titrate drips like Cardizem, amiodarone, and heparin per ordered parameters.
• Additional Information: The unit operates with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-6 and utilizes Allscripts charting system. The orientation is 12-hour shifts with a preceptor. IV therapy is managed by an IV team, and the unit adheres to hospital policies including self-scheduling via a scheduling committee and a two-week rotation of days and nights if rotating.
