Description
Job Summary:
Neurological Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) position in Madison, Wisconsin. This role involves providing specialized critical care for adult patients with neuro diagnoses such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, and postoperative neurosurgery, within a dedicated 18-bed neuroscience ICU. The nurse will implement complex interventions, monitor hemodynamics, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent patient outcomes.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, starting on 08/17/2026.
- Required Qualifications: RN license valid in Wisconsin or a compact license, at least 2 years of recent inpatient acute care experience in neuro ICU or similar setting, ACLS and BLS certifications, experience with arterial line management, invasive procedures (e.g., ventriculostomy, lumbar drains), ICP monitoring, and telemetry testing clearance.
- Preferred Qualifications: Neurosurgery experience, trauma level I or II experience, proficiency in interpreting ABGs and dysrhythmias, familiarity with specialized neuro equipment such as CereLink monitors, and ability to assist with procedures like EVD placement.
- Additional Information: The role requires float capability as needed, with a local rule of 50 miles from the facility. Candidates must pass a Telemetry test with strict criteria, including identification of lethal rhythms and heart blocks, within two attempts. This position involves caring for adult neuro critical care patients, including stroke, trauma, and post-surgical cases, with interdisciplinary support from therapy, radiology, pharmacy, and other services.
