Description
Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) registered nurse position in Louisville, Kentucky. This role involves caring for surgical patients, including those with GI, Orthopedic, Trauma, GYN/Oncological conditions, as well as sickle cell and general medical cases. The position requires strong clinical skills, compassion, and attention to detail to ensure excellent patient outcomes in a highly collaborative and supportive environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days shift, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid BLS certification, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification, at least 2 years of relevant experience; 3 years preferred.
- Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Surgical patients (GI, Orthopedic, Trauma, GYN/Oncology), sickle cell, general medical.
- Patient Ratios: RN: 1:4-6.
- Support within the Department: CNA, Receptionist, Charge Nurse, Phlebotomy dependent staffing, Vascular access team, Sepsis and Rapid response teams, Shift coordinator during the day, 24/7 RT, Hospitalist, Specialists, Intensivists, and Remote Telemetry monitoring.
- Technology/Equipment: EMR using Cerner, Plum ICU Medical IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Phillips monitors, sera steady, Arjo lifts, kangaroo PCA pumps, sapphire PCA pumps.
- Orientation: 24 hours (3 days) with a 12-hour shift at the end of week one and the start of week two.
- Shift Times: 7:00 PM 7:30 AM; clock-in at 6:53 AM, with a mandatory huddle at 7:00 AM.
- Floating: Float to mixed acuity units only.
- Additional notes: Scrub color is Galaxy Blue; free onsite parking with badge access.
