Description

Job Summary:
Emergency Room Registered Nurse in a Level III trauma center located in Kirkville, Missouri. This position involves providing high-quality emergency care to patients of all ages, including stroke, STEMI, trauma, and sepsis cases. The role requires the ability to handle various clinical skills and work effectively as part of a team during overnight shifts.

Job Details:

  • Shift: Nights, 6p-6a, weekends required.
  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid RN license, at least 2+ years of emergency department nursing experience, 1+ year of travel experience, certifications including BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a preceptor or charge nurse is preferred but not required. Willingness to eventually assist with precepting is necessary.
  • Clinical Skills and Responsibilities: Capable of triaging, performing PIV, NG/OG tube placements, Foley catheter insertions, wound care, splinting, and ultrasound-guided IV access. Experience with assistive procedures like art line, central line, and chest tube placement is desirable. ER RNs are responsible for making psych patient placement calls on nights and weekends, and must complete appropriate EMTALA paperwork.
  • Additional Information: The department handles approximately 1,100 patients per month and functions as a designated Level III trauma center, ACC Chest Pain/STEMI center, and Joint Commission Acute Ready Stroke Center. The role includes float duties, with an expected float of approximately one shift in a 13-week period. The team uses Medhost electronic medical records and Omnicell medication dispensing systems.
