Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Nurse specializing in the Department of Labor and Delivery in Crescent City, California. This role involves providing comprehensive care across labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn stabilization prior to transport within a rural hospital setting. The ideal candidate is adaptable, clinically confident, and committed to compassionate, patient-centered care.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Day shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Valid California State License as a Registered Nurse, Certifications including Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Fetal monitoring. At least 0 years of experience in labor and delivery, postpartum, or newborn care.
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, AWHONN Advanced*, AWHONN Intermediate
  • Additional Information:
    • Experience with administration of blood & blood products, assisting with high risk delivery, sterile speculum exams, vaginal deliveries, neonatal assessments, fetal monitoring, and postpartum care.
    • Skills include epidural anesthesia, IV placement, cesarean section support, newborn stabilization, maternal and neonatal assessments, and maternal education.
    • Operational details include a typical daily census of 4 patients, with 3 visits per day in a facility with 5 beds and 5 rooms.
    • Patient population ranges from neonates to adults, with support from interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services.
    • Ancillary procedures include fetal monitoring, circumcision, placement of fetal monitors and intrauterine pressure catheters, phototherapy, and epidural placements.
    • The unit supports both labor/delivery and postpartum with a focus on high-risk obstetrical care, neonatal stabilization, and maternal health.
    • Flexibility for occasional float and call duties related to census and operational needs.
    • Compliance requirements include timely labs, work history verification, and completion of required modules during orientation.
