Description
Job Summary:
The Medical Surgical Floor RN position is located in Louisville, Kentucky. This role involves providing care on a 23-bed neuro-focused unit specializing in traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, strokes, and other complex conditions. The selected candidate will support patients with a variety of diagnoses, ensuring quality care according to established clinical standards.
Job Details:
- Location: Louisville, KY
- Schedule: Days shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, BLS certification, NIHSS certification, at least 1 year of relevant experience (with a minimum of 6 months in neuro care)
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Trach care, ventilation, IVs, PICC lines, central lines, wound care, bowel programs, TPN, drains/tubes, pulmonary patients with trachs, laryngectomies, G-tube/Peg-tube (tube feeds), VADs
- Support Within Department: Phlebotomy responsibilities, RN oversight, PCA/CNA support ratio of approximately 1:7-8, Unit Coordinators available from 0700-2300, multidisciplinary team including MDs, NPs, Residents, PT/OT/ST, and leadership
- Technology/Equipment: EMR system Cernero, IV Pump Plum 360, Omnicell medication dispensing system
- Floating: Staff may float within scope of practice; primarily utilizes Float Pool
- Orientation: Monday online, Tuesday NVCI (In-person), Wednesday Frazier Orientation (In-person), with additional scheduling
- Holidays and RTO: Will work some holidays; RTO requests must be approved by management
- Other Notes: Scrub color is Galaxy Blue; free parking with badge access; the unit maintains a welcoming culture with high standards for all staff
