Job Summary:
The Labor and Delivery (L&D) Nurse is responsible for providing professional nursing care for patients in a birth center setting. This role involves utilizing critical thinking and independent judgment to ensure the comfort and well-being of patients throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum stages. The position requires supervision of the nursing care team and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to support optimal patient outcomes in a facility with extensive obstetric services.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Nights shifts, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Requirements: Valid Michigan (MI) nursing license, American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification, 2 years of current experience in a birth center, and supervisory references from the past two years.
• Responsibilities include providing care for laboring patients, assisting with deliveries, newborn care at delivery, postpartum care for mothers and babies, and documentation of patient conditions and treatment responses.
• Clinical skills should be current within the last year, pertinent to the specialty.
• Experience with laboring patients, delivery, and postpartum is required; prior travel experience and active NRP certification are preferred.
• The candidate must have their own vehicle and include their perm address in their profile.
• For scheduling purposes, all time off requests must be noted at submission and verified prior to the interview; requests after this point may not be approved.
• This role involves rotating weekend and holiday shifts with possible on-call requirements.
