Job Summary
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) registered nurse position in a rural healthcare facility located in IRON MOUNTAIN, Michigan. The role involves providing skilled nursing care in a 5-bed ICU with a focus on ventilator management, titrating drips, and handling complex patient cases such as respiratory failure, septic shock, and more. The position requires adaptability, experience with rural healthcare settings, and the ability to float to medical/surgical units as needed.
Job Details
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts (0700-1900 & 1900-0700), with a minimum of 48 hours per week.
- Certifications/Qualifications: Licensure to practice as a registered nurse; ACLS (American Heart Association), BLS (American Heart Association); minimum 2 years of ICU experience in an ICU setting; experience with vent management and titratable drips such as Levophed, propofol, and insulin; must have worked in or be comfortable with limited-resource rural environments and potentially floating to medical/surgical units.
- Shift Requirements: Rotating day/night shifts; ability to work weekends (EOW, Friday-Sunday) and 2 out of 3 holidays; potential call/standby opportunities.
- Operational Details: No nurse aides on unit; in-house hospitalist or intensivist coverage until 6pm, with ICU Tele Physicians coverage at night; 24/7 RT availability with equipment including vents, Cpap, Bipap, heated high flow; RNs required to read their own monitor strips from 0700-1900 daily, with training provided if needed.
- Orientation: Includes an 8-hour computer education session on day 1, shadowing on day 2, and independent work from day 3.
- Floating: Must be able to float to Medical/Surgical units and manage ratios of 1:3-6 when necessary.
- Dress Code: Solid professional attire, no specific color required.
- Additional Notes: Candidates with previous experience working for the organization must have their end date at least 6 months prior to submission. All clinicians are required to clock in and out at the facility.
