Description

Job Summary:
A Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) is sought in Kansas City, Missouri. This position involves providing high-acuity care to orthopedic trauma and post-operative orthopedic patients, with the opportunity to work in a Level I Trauma Hospital. The role includes managing a variety of surgical patients, ensuring safe blood management and mobility, and participating in teaching and trauma protocols.

Job Details:

  • Location: Kansas City, MO
  • Shift: Days, 12-hour shifts
  • Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours
  • Start Date: 09/14/2026
  • Required Qualifications: 2 years of clinical experience, level 1 trauma experience, high acuity orthopedic patient care, blood product administration, IV therapy and phlebotomy, certifications in BLS and ACLS, skills in wound care, surgical drains, isolation precautions, and scope of practice for PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown units.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Charge nurse experience, trauma level 1 certification, and community hospital experience.
  • Schedule: 36 hours per week, with at least 8 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule.
  • Float: Regular floating to all intermediate units as needed, within scope.
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS.
  • Skills: Blood product administration, peripheral line care and management, PICC line management, starting IVs, surgical drains, orthopedic trauma care, wound vac management, isolation precautions.
  • Additional Information: On-call requirements of 1-2 weekdays and 2 weekends per 13-week period. No local candidates within 75 miles; travel and float responsibilities as specified. All compliance documentation and pre-start modules must be completed prior to start date.
