Description

Job Summary:
A Registered Nurse specializing in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) located in Kansas City, Missouri. This position involves providing expert patient care in a diverse clinical environment, with responsibilities including cardiovascular, neurological, and respiratory patient management, as well as administering treatments such as IV therapies, medications, and monitoring vital signs. The role supports the organization's commitment to quality patient outcomes and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse, ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications, minimum 2 years of relevant experience including previous charge and teaching hospital experience preferred. Open to first-time travelers.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Epic charting system, community hospital experience, and previous trauma level I or II experience.
  • Responsibilities include clinical management of post-cardiac, neurological, and GI patients, interpretation of dysrhythmias, cardioversion, and use of rapid response teams. Managing IV therapy, blood product administration, and specialized procedures such as chest tube management and tracheostomy care are integral parts of this role.
  • Patients primarily include adults and geriatrics with a census of approximately 31 patients daily.
  • The clinician may float across departments and units as needed within scope, including ED for inpatient care. Floating between Kansas and Missouri facilities or holding a compact license is required.
  • All shifts are part of a 6-week schedule with a requirement of 8 weekend shifts, including holidays and charge assignments.
  • RTO (Return to Office) restrictions allow for a maximum of 7 days of time off. Additional compliance, lab, and training requirements must be completed prior to start.
