Description
Job Summary:
Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) position in a healthcare facility located in IRON MOUNTAIN, Michigan. The role involves providing specialized patient care in a high-acuity telemetered unit with a focus on patients with various diagnoses, including post-surgical, cardiac, and respiratory conditions. The shift schedule consists of 12-hour days, with opportunities for rotation and on-call responsibilities.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts (0700-1900 & 1900-0700), minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: BLS certification from the American Heart Association; minimum of 1 year of experience in Medical Surgical (MS) or Telemetry (Tele) acute care settings; valid license to submit; local candidates living within 80 miles of the facility.
- Preferred Qualifications: ACLS certification, experience or knowledge of TURPS- CBI, critical access or Trauma Level 3 or 4 experience, and prior work with similar unit types.
- Unit Notes:
- Department: Medical Telemetry
- Bed capacity: 24 inpatient beds with approximately 10 observation/day surgical patients
- Patient ratios: 5:1 during day shift, 6:1 at 11 pm, with team nursing ratios of 2:7 with LPNs
- Common diagnoses include NHP, cellulitis, UTI, COPD, GU, pacemaker, sepsis, nursing home placements, and day surgical procedures such as ortho, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, TURPS-CBI.
- Resources onsite: Hospitalists or intensivists available until 6 pm daily; telemed for after-hours; ICU with RT available 24/7, equipped with CPAP.
- Telemetry monitors require basic rhythm interpretation skills; monitors are of a standard brand, with daily rhythm analysis in ICU.
- Float: Must be able to float to like units and patient types.
- Orientation: Computer education day one (8 hours), shadowing (4 hours), followed by a 12-hour shift of orientation and on-the-job training.
- Holidays: 2 out of 3 holidays required; weekends rotated every other weekend.
- Call/Standby: Opportunity to be on call or standby.
- Dress Code: Solid professional scrubs, no specific color required.
- Clinicians previously employed at this facility must have an end date at least 6 months prior to submission.
- Clock in/out at the facility.
