Job Summary
Labor and Delivery Nurse in Grass Valley, California This position involves providing specialized care within the Labor and Delivery (L&D) department at a healthcare organization. The role requires independent decision-making in a fast-paced environment, supporting a team during deliveries, postpartum care, and neonatal stabilization, with an emphasis on emergency readiness and patient safety.
Job Details
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; minimum of 36 hours per week, with schedule posted six weeks in advance. No self-scheduling; reporting is bedside, and scheduling is managed centrally.
- Required Qualifications: Valid license to practice as a registered nurse, at least 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Advanced AWHONN Certified in Advanced Fetal Monitoring.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Cerner electronic medical records system.
- Float: No responsible for Labor and Delivery or Mother/Baughter units.
- Additional Information:
- Unit features 4 Labor and Delivery beds and 8 Mother/Baby beds.
- Ratios: Labor and Delivery 1:2, 1:1 active delivery; Mother/Baby 1:4 (couplets).
- Patient population includes approximately 45 deliveries per month, primarily low to moderate risk, including term and preterm pregnancies, postpartum, and general gynecological patients.
- Support staff: 2 RNs and 1 RT per delivery.
- No on-site pharmacy; pharmacy services available 6:30 AM to 10:00 PM.
- Emergency and neonatal stabilization capabilities required; must be proficient in emergency scenarios and capable of working independently.
- The closest sister hospital is approximately one hour away, and staff must be available to work evenings, nights, weekends, and rotating holidays.
- Experience in an emergency setting and ability to work independently are essential.
