Description
Job Summary:
The Labor and Delivery (L&D) Nursing position is based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This role involves providing high-quality patient care in a busy L&D department with a focus on high-risk obstetric cases, including cesarean sections and antepartum complications. The position requires circulating in the operating room for cesarean deliveries and adhering to established unit guidelines.
Job Details:
- Location: Colorado Springs, CO
- Shift: Nights, 12 hours per shift, scheduled 36 hours per week
- Start Date: 09/14/2026
- Required Qualifications: Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); minimum of 1 year high-risk Labor and Delivery experience; must be able to circulate in the operating room for cesarean sections; strong knowledge of labor, pre-eclampsia, IDM, and antepartum complications; current RN license; able to read and interpret fetal monitor strips on GE Corometrics Electronic Fetal Heart Monitoring (EFM) system; self-scheduling preferred with flexibility for filling shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with high-risk obstetrics, NICU-level knowledge, and familiarity with EPIC charting system.
- Additional Information: Nurses should be comfortable floating to postpartum units. The team follows AWHONN guidelines to maintain appropriate patient-to-nurse ratios. Call requirements involve 18 hours every 6 weeks, with shifts scheduled in 6-hour blocks. The unit operates with in-house anesthesia 24/7, and a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is available, although Neonatologists are not on-site 24/7. The unit uses hospital-provided scrubs and has a self-scheduling process.
