Description

Job Summary:
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in Pediatric Psychology is needed at a behavioral health facility in Kansas City, Missouri. The role involves providing mental health assessments, developing care plans, administering medications, and supporting patients experiencing psychiatric crises. The position offers an opportunity to work with diverse patient populations in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Days shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, covering three shifts daily, seven days a week, including weekends. Days off are not guaranteed unless specified in the contract.
  • Required Qualifications: Active Blue Card certification; BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification; ability to assess patients' mental health status, recognize signs of psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral problems; development of individualized care plans; medication management including monitoring side effects; crisis intervention skills including de-escalation techniques; advanced therapeutic communication skills; proficiency in documentation systems.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with pediatric patients in a behavioral health setting is highly desirable.
  • Additional Information: The facility supports patients from ages 12-18 and offers a diverse environment with units specializing in different patient populations including adolescents, lower acuity adults, high acuity adults, and seniors. The team utilizes Meditech documentation system and adheres to ICARE and AIDET communication principles. The role involves monitoring physical and psychological symptoms, including vital signs, mental status, and medication effects.
