Job Summary
Operating Room First Assistant (ORFA) position available in Richmond, Virginia. This role involves supporting surgical procedures in a busy labor and delivery unit with a focus on assisting during labor, delivery, and postpartum care. The ideal candidate will have essential certifications and relevant experience to contribute effectively to the team.

• Location: Richmond, Virginia
• Address: 1602 Skipworth Road, Richmond, VA
• Unit Information: 16 LDR beds, 3 Operating Rooms, 3 Triage beds, staffing includes 1 charge RN, 12 RN staff, 2-3 Surgical Technicians during day shifts; 1 charge RN, 6-7 RN staff, 1 Surgical Technician during night shifts
• Patient Ratios: AWHONN ratios are the goal; may vary from 1:1, 2:1, or 3:1 depending on acuity
• Equipment: Novii monitors, iMobile, headsets, pass-through skin-to-skin C-section drape, deep soaker tubs, light therapy, aroma therapy
• EMR: CPN and Meditech
• Skill Set Requirements: Candidates must have current (within the past two years) Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring and Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience, along with current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience at facilities with approximately 3,000 births annually is desirable.
• Procedures Performed: Labor, delivery, recovery, triage, Antepartum care, circulating for C-section, first hour baby care (excluding admission assessment, eyes, and thighs), breastfeeding support.
• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Qualifications: No minimum years of experience required beyond the certifications and skills listed.
• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs and closed shoes; tattoos and piercings should be covered.
• Policies and Guidelines: In-house coverage includes 24/7 hospitalist and midwife support, anesthesia, and neonatology services.
