Description
Job Summary:
The ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Registered Nurse position is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This role involves providing high-acuity, medical-surgical and thoracic/cardiovascular intensive care. The RN will be responsible for managing patients with conditions such as respiratory failure, ARDS, CHF, COPD, post-STEMI, post-arrest, post-surgical recovery, and other critical illnesses. The position offers a fast-paced environment with a focus on patient-centered care in a teaching facility.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week. The first schedule period may include filling gaps to balance short shifts; future scheduling is through the Oracle application and shifts are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Staff can shift swap via Oracle's shift swap feature.
- Required Qualifications: Certifications include ACLS (American Heart Association), BLS (American Heart Association), NIHSS (American Heart Association). Nurses must have at least 3 years of ICU experience, be able to titrate drips (e.g., pressors, sedation, paralytics, insulin, heparin), and have recent EPIC electronic medical record experience within the last year. A valid license to submit is required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with ventilators (vent, BiPAP, HiFlow nasal cannula) and managing patients with high acuity conditions such as respiratory failure and post-cardiac events.
- Additional Information:
- Minimum of 6 weekend shifts (Saturday and/or Sunday) within a 6-week schedule block.
- Holiday work may be required at the managers discretion with no holiday RTO approval; holiday call-ins will result in contract cancellation.
- No call or standby requirements; travelers are first to float and may be assigned to a patient team of up to 5 patients.
- The unit is equipped with Nihon Koden monitors, ventilators, BiPAP, and HiFlow nasal cannula.
- Orientation includes two shifts: classroom/unit orientation on day 1, on-unit shift with a preceptor on day 2.
- Support staff are available 24/7, but nurses are expected to draw labs and perform EKGs independently.
- The ICU is located on the 4th floor with Pharmacy and Lab on the 1st floor.
