Job Summary
Intensive Care Unit Medical (ICU MEDICAL) in Salem, Massachusetts. This position involves providing care in a Level III Trauma Center's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with a focus on adult patients with a wide range of diagnoses such as substance abuse/overdose, severe psychiatric conditions, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), sepsis, gastrointestinal bleed, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, renal failure, and cardiogenic shock. The role requires floating to medical and surgical units, with a rotating shift schedule including day, evening, and night shifts over 36 hours per week. The unit is staffed with attendings and residents 24 hours a day, ensuring comprehensive patient care.

- Shift Schedule: Rotating shifts, including day, evening, and night shifts (7a-7p, 11a-11p, 7p-7a) when needed; night shifts are fixed.
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Active Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license, American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications, at least 2 years of adult intensive care unit experience, including both continuous work in one location and experience in a medical/surgical intensive care environment.
- Preferred Qualifications: Telemetry competency.
- Float: Float rotation may be required, mostly within medical/surgical units, with float staff managing up to 4 or 5 patients.
- Patient Population: Adult patients with diverse diagnoses.
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC.
- Other Details: The unit comprises 20 beds, with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:2 or 1:1 for high acuity, and 1:4 or 1:5 when floated to other Med/Surg units.
