Job Summary:
Psychiatric Unit Specialist in Rural Iowa. This inpatient facility provides substance abuse treatment for patients aged 18 and older. The role involves managing detoxification processes, including CIWA (Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment) and COWS (Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale), conducting urine analyses, and maintaining empathetic yet firm boundaries. The position begins onsite between August 31, 2026, and November 29, 2026, with a schedule of night shifts.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Night shifts; 12 hours per shift; minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certifications; 12 months of experience in an inpatient rehabilitation setting with COWS and CIWA assessments, including detox experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in psychiatric or behavioral health settings.
• Additional Information: The facility handles voluntary patients with no restraints; administration and physician availability are on call. Visiting hours are Sundays from 1-4 p.m. Orientation includes 2-3 days of training shifts lasting 12 hours each until the candidate is comfortable.
