Description
Job Summary:
Specialty Registered Nurse (RN) Step Down Unit Madison, WI. This role involves providing specialized nursing care to a diverse patient population, including neurology, diabetic, nephrology, spinal fusion, and intermediate care patients. The position requires adaptability to various acuity levels and competence in managing pulmonary and respiratory dependencies.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, rotating days and nights, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid RN license; minimum of 2 years of recent acute care experience in pediatric medical-surgical or step-down units; experience with pulmonary lines and respiratory failure management including tracheostomy and ventilators; BLS and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association; proficiency in Epic electronic charting system; ability to pass telemetry exams prior to start.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with trauma level II facilities and extended pediatric care.
- Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Additional Information: The role involves managing complex respiratory cases, including patients with tracheostomies, ventilator dependence, and non-invasive ventilatory support like CPAP and BIPAP. Facility offers interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, and rapid response teams. The candidate must have command over pediatric-specific medication calculations, clinical assessments, and equipment management, including neuromuscular, renal, and seizure disorder care. The assignment runs from 09/14/2026 to 12/14/2026.
