Job Summary:
The Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) Nurse is responsible for providing specialized patient care within a progressive care setting located in a hospital environment. This role involves delivering high-quality nursing services to adult patients with varying acuity levels in a fast-paced, adaptable environment. The position starts on September 7, 2026, and continues through December 7, 2026, offering a dynamic and challenging opportunity for qualified healthcare professionals.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Candidates must have at least 2 years of recent hospital experience in an Intermediate Care Unit or similar setting, hold a valid Virginia (VA) license or a Compact license recognized in multiple states, and possess current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications. Additional experience with NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), IV infusions (including Amiodarone, Nitro, Heparin, Milrinone, Cardazem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Lasix, IV Push medications like Labetalol and Metoprolol), and MediTech electronic medical records is highly preferred.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with MediTech EMR, extra shift availability, and proficiency in post-cardiac catheterization recovery techniques are advantageous.
• Float: Float rotation may be required to MS & Surgical units, with occasional coverage in Intensive Care Units to care for patients boarding in the IMCU.
• Additional Information: The unit accommodates 26 beds with 6-7 registered nurses scheduled per shift, utilizing acuity-based staffing ratios of 1:1, 1:2, and occasionally 1:3. Typical equipment includes GE Telemetry monitors, Baxter Sigma Spectrum IV pumps, and Hill-Rom patient beds. The environment is fast-paced, requiring flexible and adaptable staff. The dress code is teal scrubs, and shifts involve at least four weekend shifts per four-week schedule. There is no mandated on-call requirement.
