Description

Job Summary:
The profession is registered nurse specializing in step down units, located in an acute care setting. This position involves providing care for patients with complex cardiac and medical conditions, such as post-CABG care, arrhythmias, respiratory issues, renal failure, and other acute diagnoses. The role requires the ability to interpret telemetry strips and titrate medications as needed. The assignment spans nights with a schedule of 12-hour shifts.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week, with a minimum of 6 weekend days (Saturdays or Sundays) within a 6-week period.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid license to practice as a registered nurse, minimum of 2 years of recent hospital acute care experience, TELE experience, strong IV skills, ACLS (American Heart Association), BLS (American Heart Association), and NIHSS certification. EPIC electronic health record experience within the past year is preferred.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Teaching hospital experience, experience with titrating drips such as Heparin, Amiodarone, and Cardizem.
  • Additional Information:
    • Orientation includes 8 hours of non-billable classroom and unit training, with modules prior to the first day.
    • Must have recent supervisor reference and prior experience working on similar units, including detailed work history on unit size, hospital size, trauma level, and patient types.
    • The unit uses monitor technology (Nihon Koden brand) and Telemetry (tele) for most patients.
    • Nurse-to-patient ratios vary but generally are 1:4, with CNA ratios of 1:8-12 depending on census.
    • No call or standby requirements.
    • Dress code involves black scrubs with top and bottom.
    • The first day includes a mix of classroom and on-unit orientation from 0700-1900, followed by precepted clinical shifts.
