Description

Job Summary:
Medical Surgical with Telemetry (MS TELE) in a healthcare setting. This unit specializes in caring for patients with a variety of diagnoses such as CHF, COVID, respiratory issues, GI conditions, diabetics, post-catheterization, and total joint replacements. The role involves interpreting basic telemetry strips, with some experience in managing CVA and TIA patients, requiring the ability to work a 12-hour night shift with a minimum of 36 hours per week, starting on 09/21/2026.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week. Shifts are scheduled for 4-week blocks, with self-scheduling subject to managerial approval.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). Candidates must have at least 2 years of nursing experience. Additional requirements include licensure to submit and the ability to interpret telemetry strips and sign off at least once per shift.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with reading telemetry strips, prior experience with CVA and TIA patients, Cerner electronic charting system familiarity, total joint replacement experience, and experience titrating Diltiazem/Cardizem drips.
  • Floating: Float rotation may be required, including to the East Campus or possibly the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) if qualified.
  • Additional Information: Shift orientation includes one on-unit shift. The unit maintains specific dress code requirements, including navy blue scrubs. The unit maintains a 1:10-15 nurse aide ratio and utilizes BiPap, CPAP, and breathing treatments as needed. Staffing includes charge nurses and house supervisors. The unit requires participation in weekend and holiday shifts, specifically working two days and two evenings during major holidays like Christmas, New Year's, and Thanksgiving.
