Description
Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse position in an acute care facility. This assignment involves providing high-quality care to a diverse patient population, including trauma, burn, stroke, and geriatric patients, with some pediatrics. The role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment to deliver efficient emergency services during night shifts.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Active Illinois license or confirmation that application has been initiated; BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association), PALS certifications; minimum of 2 years of ER nursing experience; valid SSN (last four digits); middle initial; requested time off; proof of negative drug screen; understanding that the organization is a Drug-Free Campus
- ER Details: Level I trauma center, STEMI receiving, stroke center, 21 beds plus a rapid medical evaluation area, ER staffed with physicians and mid-level providers, charge nurses on each shift, ER techs assigned per area, RT available 24/7 for ABG's, breathing therapies, EKG's, with RT managing equipment
- Patient Care: General ER patients from minor to severe, including trauma, burns, strokes, geriatrics with co-morbidities, and some pediatrics
- Equipment & Procedures: RT manages vents, Cpap, BiPap, high-flow devices; RNs troubleshoot and assist with these; tele/monitor techs in place, with RNs responsible for reading strips as needed; X-ray and CT imaging available; phlebotomy and lab draws conducted by RNs or phlebotomists
- Staffing & Flexibility: ER does not typically float; float rotation may be needed as assisting hands only; charge nurse on duty 24/7; self-scheduling with block scheduling allowed; every other weekend and holiday shifts required; no call or standby requirement
- Dress Code: Any color professional scrubs with OSF emblem T-shirts; no hoodies
- Orientation: 2 shifts of 12 hours each; Epic charting system used
- Additional Requirements: Last four digits of SSN, requested time off, and active IL license or initiation confirmation required for submission
