Job Summary
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse - Location unspecified. This position involves providing high-quality emergency care in a fast-paced environment within a designated zone around a metropolitan area. The role requires flexibility to float within specific facilities and zones, handling diverse patient cases, and adhering to safety and clinical protocols.
Job Details
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, Days, a minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid license to submit, at least 2 years of emergency department experience, certifications include Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS - American Heart Association), Basic Life Support (BLS - American Heart Association), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS - American Heart Association), National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with common drip medications and standard ER medications
- Float: Float: Float rotation may be required within Zone 3, covering facilities around Denver city center, including OrthoColorado Hospital, Longmont United Hospital, St. Anthony Hospital, St. Anthony North Hospital, and 84th Ave ER
- Additional Information:
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of ER experience.
- Must float within Zone 3, which spans multiple hospitals and emergency departments.
- Traveler cannot miss more than 3 shifts in a 13-week contract and must submit a 2-week notice to avoid a back-out penalty fee.
- No home base facility; flexible within designated zone.
- Scheduled 4 to 6 weeks in advance, with options for assigned weeks at specific facilities or just-in-time scheduling.
- No in-house security, but ERs are equipped to handle high patient volumes, ranging from 40 to 168 patients daily, depending on location.
- Team includes charge nurses, nurse aides, emergency medical technicians, and other supporting staff, with the charge nurse also taking assignments.
- RNs are expected to read and interpret tele monitors and perform point-of-care testing as part of patient care.
- Dress code: Navy Blue scrubs.
- Equipment includes vents, Cpap, BiPap, high flow devices, etc. RNs may troubleshoot but are not primarily responsible for operating equipment unless required.
- Emergency Department features separate triage and holding areas, with some locations having dedicated psych/seclusion rooms.
- Shifts are made out by leadership, with staff expected to be flexible to fill operational needs.
- No specific minimum experience required beyond the 2-year ER experience noted as required.
