Job Summary
Medical Surgical with Telemetry (MS TELE) Nurse Location: unspecified. This position involves providing high-quality patient care within a Level I Trauma Center recognized for its teaching excellence and specialized units such as Chest Pain and Stroke Centers. The role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a dynamically staffed environment.

Job Details

• Position Description: RN - MedSurg/Tele. The facility has 874 licensed beds and is a designated Magnet Institution.
• Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid RN license, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications, 2 years of Medical-Surgical Telemetry nursing experience, and the ability to work within the specified region.
• Patient Care: Manage complex GI surgeries including Partial and Total Colectomy, Bowel Resections, Anastomosis, Whipple, and Liver Resection. Provide care for trauma overflow patients with RN patient ratios of 4 to 6 (up to 8 surges), and CNA ratios of 9 to 12.
• Skills: Experience with cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (including Dobhoff, PEG, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, Foley), PCA pumps, and medication gtt management such as Heparin, blood products, IVF, and cardiac drips.
• Technology/Equipment: EMR: EPIC; Monitors: Phillips; IV pumps: Alaris; Med dispensing: Omnicell.
• Floating: Floating to all facilities within the designated region as needed, within scope of practice.
• Orientation: 2 days departmental orientation.
• Additional Information: No monitoring tech; nurses read monitors and respond; support staff includes Resource Nurse as available, RT, hospitalist, intensivist, and telemetry monitor response.
• Submission Requirements: Candidates will be evaluated based on experience with specified patient care, certifications, and ability to work in the designated region and schedule.
