An ORT (Surgical Technician/Operating Room Technician) position located in Wausau, focusing on orthopedic, neurological, and spinal surgical cases. - Position Description:
Specialized Surgical Technologist role supporting orthopedic, neuro, and spine surgeries. Must be proficient in complex spine and neuro cases, including totals, and able to manage multiple cases in a busy operating room environment. The role requires float capabilities to other nearby facilities if needed. - Required Qualifications:
BLS certification, CST license required, NBSTSA or NCCT accreditation accepted, AHA or ARC certifications required. Graduation from a surgical technologist program and four or more years of related operating room experience, including trauma level II, with prior travel experience. - Schedule:
Days shift, 8 hours per day, with a minimum of 40 hours per week, contract duration from 09/21/2026 to 12/19/2026. On-call responsibilities include 6-8 weeknight call nights and 1-2 weekend nights, with a 30-minute response time. - Additional Information:
Must have own vehicle; Uber/Lyft reliance is not possible due to on-call duties. Experience with orthopedic, neuro, spine, general surgery, GYN, urology, plastics, ENT, and gastrointestinal procedures is preferred. Flexibility, resilience, and teamwork skills are essential to succeed in this fast-paced environment. - Charting/Equipment:
Responsibility for case cart preparation, efficient setup of operative suites, and room turnover. Support for multiple specialties across 21 operating rooms, averaging 40-60 cases daily. - Hard skills required:
Orthopedic, neuro, and spine surgery experience; comfortable with complex cases and totals. General surgery, GYN, urology, plastics, ENT, and GI experience is a bonus.
