Job Summary
Medical Surgical Float Nurse Day Shift Location: not specified. This role involves providing comprehensive general medical and surgical nursing care in a large hospital with a diverse patient population. The position requires flexibility to float between units, adhering to specific orientation and training protocols.
Job Details
- Shift Time: Days
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, minimum 36 hours per week, with 3 weekend shifts in 4 weeks
- Position Description: Provides nursing care to patients with chronic illnesses, GI issues, infections, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders. Responsibilities include assessments, care planning, inter-professional communication, and management of IV therapy, wound vacs, feeding tubes, chest tubes, and medication drips using electronic record systems and hospital equipment.
- Required Qualifications: IN license (or compact as of July 1, 2020), BLS through AHA, at least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary experience, at least 1 year of experience at a large hospital (450+ beds).
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in general medical and surgical units, familiarity with procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries.
- Additional Information: Supplemental staff will undergo hospital and nursing orientation, including Epic electronic charting classes. Floating to other medical units may be required.
