Job Summary
Located in Colorado Springs, CO, the Step Down Unit registered nurse (RN) will provide specialized care within a fast-paced acute care environment. The role involves floating across multiple units within the zone, ensuring comprehensive patient care for adults with diverse medical conditions in various specializations including Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, and others.

Job Details

  • Position: Registered Nurse (RN) Step Down Unit
  • Shift: Days, 12-hour shifts, minimum 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Valid RN license, BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification from AHA, NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification, must have 2 years of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Intermediate Care (IMC). Experience managing cardiac drips, insulin, and Ativan is required.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Prior neuro experience and Epic electronic medical record system familiarity are preferred.
  • Schedule & Flexibility: Schedule is made out 4 to 6 weeks in advance, with availability to assist in filling gaps in permanent staffing. May be asked to float within Zone 1 and into various acuity levels including ICU, PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele.
  • Additional Information: The role involves float responsibilities across several units, including General, Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, and others. Nurse:Patient Ratios are typically 1:3-4 dependent on acuity. A 1-2 day unit-specific orientation with a preceptor is provided. The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment. Charting is completed in EPIC. No BSN is required to submit license.
