Step Down Unit Nurse - Colorado Springs, CO. This position involves providing specialized care within a high-acuity environment across multiple units in Zone 1. The role requires flexibility to float within designated facilities, covering various specialties including general, cardiac, neuro, oncology, renal, and others, with a focus on adult and geriatric populations.

Job Details

  • Position Description:
    The role involves delivering patient care in a step down unit within a healthcare facility, supporting adult and geriatric patients across several specialties such as cardiac, neuro, oncology, renal, and general medicine. The assignment includes working nights with scheduled shifts of 12 hours, totaling a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications:
    Valid licensure in the state, BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) from the American Heart Association, NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale), minimum of two years of experience in progressive care or intermediate care units, experience with cardiac drips, insulin, and Ativan, and familiarity with Epic electronic medical record system.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    Prior neuro experience is preferred.
  • Schedule:
    Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Additional Information:
    Candidates must be prepared to float within Zone 1, which includes facilities around Colorado Springs, CO. Orientation will involve 1-2 days with a preceptor, and the first float assignment will be communicated before or on the start date. The position requires flexibility to help fill scheduling gaps, with mandatory assistance in covering 6-9 weekend shifts every six weeks. An ability to titrate and manage cardiac drips, insulin, Ativan, and heparin is essential. The hospital can cancel up to four shifts during the assignment, and all shifts are scheduled 4-6 weeks in advance.
