Job Summary
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse in Denver, Colorado. This position involves providing acute care in a fast-paced ER environment, with responsibilities including assessment, treatment, and monitoring of patients across a range of urgent medical conditions. The role requires flexibility to float within Zone 3 hospitals and adherence to established protocols and certification requirements.
Job Details
- Position Description: Provides direct patient care in emergency medical situations, supporting trauma, stroke, STEMI, and other critical cases, with a focus on patient safety and clinical excellence.
- Required Qualifications: Current certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC). A minimum of 2 years of recent ER experience. Valid license to practice in Colorado.
- Schedule: 12-hour day shifts operating from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience handling common drips and standard ER medications.
- Additional Information: The role involves floating within Zone 3 hospitals including OrthoColorado Hospital, Longmont United Hospital, and St. Anthony facilities. Shifts are scheduled 4 to 6 weeks in advance with flexibility required for coverage gaps. The ER department manages anywhere from 40 to 168 patients daily, with nurse-to-patient ratios typically between 1:4 and 1:5, depending on acuity levels. A two- to three-day unit orientation is required. Ongoing training and support are provided to perform point-of-care testing, interpret telemonitor readings, and operate ER equipment such as vents, CPap, BiPAP, and High Flow devices.
