Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery (L&D) Nurse in a hospital setting, responsible for high-risk obstetric patient care in an acute patient environment. The role involves assessing, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating nursing care, including direct patient care, patient and family education, and transitions of care. The position requires delivering holistic and individualized care while fostering collaborative relationships with patients, families, and healthcare providers.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Nights shift, 12-hour shift times, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: CA Registered Nurse (RN) license, BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate certification, minimum 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery, valid Epic electronic charting system experience, current certifications with valid expiration dates, and uploaded Nursys license within the last 2 weeks
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with high-risk obstetrics, experience with Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) or AWHONN standards, previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Additional Information: The role involves managing a patient census of 250-300 deliveries per month in a facility with 26 beds. Clinical responsibilities include monitoring fetal heart rates using EFM, assisting with high-risk deliveries, performing sterile speculum exams, administering medications such as magnesium sulfate, and facilitating postpartum care. Onsite skills testing, including EKG, will be required with an 80% passing score. Orientation hours total 36. Some procedures and certifications are mandatory, including blood product administration, sterile procedures, fetal monitoring, and neonatal assessments.
