Job Details

• Required Qualifications: Graduate of an Accredited Civilian or Military Operating Room Technician/Surgical Technician program; NBSTSA Certified and must maintain certification; BLS Certification required; experience requirement: 0 years.
• Schedule: Days shift; 8 hours per shift; minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Assists in preparing the operating room and maintaining sterile techniques according to hospital policy and AORN Standards of Care.
• Performs scrub technician functions for all services and specialties, including passing instruments, holding retractors, suturing, and assisting with specimen handling.
• Ensures proper functioning of sterilization equipment and proper setup of surgical instruments and supplies.
• Assists in patient transport, positioning, and applying surgical dressings.
• Supports turnover processes and restocking for subsequent procedures.
• Understands and utilizes sterilization methods, surgical supplies, and equipment specific to procedures.
• May operate sterilizers, lights, suction, and diagnostic equipment.
• Properly prepares and labels medications during surgery under surgeon and nurse guidance.
• Assists in transferring patients to recovery and helps with post-operative care activities.
• Demonstrates teamwork, cooperation, and commitment to ongoing educational development.
• Participates in staff meetings and in-service programs related to clinical and operational responsibilities.
• Performs other related duties as assigned, upholding service excellence principles aligned with organizational values.
