Job Summary
Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse in a healthcare organization. This role involves providing specialized nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia following surgical and diagnostic procedures, closely monitoring patient conditions, managing pain and nausea, and ensuring stability before transfer or discharge.

Job Details

• Position Description: Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization. Implements and monitors patient care plans, assesses and coordinates patient discharge planning needs, and serves as a primary coordinator for well-coordinated patient care.
• Required Qualifications: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license. Graduation from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred by many employers. Current BLS certification. ACLS certification typically required. PACU, ICU, critical-care, emergency department, or perioperative nursing experience may be preferred depending on the facility. Strong assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and emergency-response skills.
• Preferred Qualifications: Previous PACU or critical-care experience. PALS certification when caring for pediatric patients. Certification such as CPAN or CAPA. Experience with airway management, hemodynamic monitoring, and postoperative recovery.
• Schedule: Days shift, 8 hours per shift, minimum of 40 hours per week.

• Additional Information: The PACU RN provides specialized nursing care during the immediate post-anesthesia period, managing pain, nausea, and potential complications, ensuring patient stability before discharge.
