Job Summary
The organization is seeking a qualified ICU Medical (Intensive Care Unit Medical) nurse for a 12-hour day shift position. The role involves providing critical care to patients with diagnoses such as Sepsis, ARDS, Pneumonia, AKI, ETOH withdrawal, and Overdose within a hospital ICU setting.
Job Details
- Certifications and Requirements: Active Illinois license or confirmation of application initiation, BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association), and a minimum of 1 year of clinical experience.
- Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, minimum 36 hours per week.
- Duties: Interpreting EKG strips, managing arterial lines and central lines, caring for ventilated patients, titrating vasoactive and cardioactive drips, reading telemetry strips, and troubleshooting equipment.
- Operational Details: The unit maintains a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 RN to 2 patients, with additional support from nurse aides/patient care techs, hospitalist or intensivist staffing 24/7, and telemetry monitoring. Floating to lower care levels may be required.
- Orientation and Training: A comprehensive orientation including Epic system training, shadowing, and preceptor support totaling 24 hours.
- Additional Requirements: Must produce a negative drug screen as part of facility compliance. Additional submission requirements include the last four digits of SSN and confirmation of ongoing licensure application.
