Emergency Room (ER) Nurse Nights Location unspecified. This position involves providing emergency nursing care in a Level 1 trauma center with 65 beds. The role requires managing a wide variety of patient cases, from newborns to the elderly, including critically ill patients and those with trauma or cardiac emergencies.
Job Details
- Position Description: Emergency Room Nurse in a Level 1 trauma hospital with 65 private beds, responsible for caring for trauma and critical patients across all age groups, including stroke, heart attack, and trauma cases. The role involves titrating various drips such as vasopressors, cardiac, and antihypertensive medications, and interpreting monitor rhythms.
- Required Qualifications: Active Illinois nursing license or confirmation of application, BLS, ACLS, ENPC or PALS, TNCC or TNS certifications, minimum of 2 years of ER experience, and at least one prior travel assignment.
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 48 hours per week.
- Preferred Qualifications: SANE RN experience, working in a teaching hospital environment.
- Additional Information: Candidates must be proficient in managing complex emergency cases, interpreting cardiac rhythms, and working with emergency and trauma protocols. They will be expected to assist with troubleshooting respiratory equipment and draw labs. The department maintains a minimum of three attending physicians with day and night coverage, and there are dedicated charge nurses and house supervisors on each shift. Float rotation may be required in exceptional cases, and there are no specific scrub color requirements.
