Job Summary
Medical Surgical Floor Nurse Night Shift Location not specified. This position involves providing care to post-operative surgical, trauma, and overflow medical patients within a fast-paced acute care unit. The role requires critical thinking, excellent bedside manner, and teamwork to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Job Details
- Position: Registered Nurse (RN) Medical Surgical Floor
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Active Illinois license or confirmation that application has been initiated, BLS certification (AHA), minimum of 1 year of experience, familiarity with post-op care, trauma, wound care, IV therapy, pain management, drains, NGs, central lines, TPN, and knowledge of the use of telemetry monitors.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with critical care patient management, ability to titrate heparin drips, and experience working in a surgical acute care setting.
- Additional Information: The unit has a nurse-to-patient ratio of 4-5 per RN during days and 5-6 per RN during nights, with the capacity for up to 1:6 on days and 1:7 on nights if necessary. The team operates with a charge nurse and house supervisor 24/7, and the float rotations may be required to other units with similar experience levels. The orientation process includes two shifts with a preceptor, along with EPIC system training and unit-specific orientation.
- Submission Requirements: Last four digits of SSN, confirmation of active IL license or application process, understanding of drug-free policy, and ability to produce a negative drug screen.
