Job Summary
PACU Registered Nurse (RN) Post Anesthesia Care Unit Location unspecified. This role involves monitoring and caring for post-operative patients recovering from anesthesia. The ideal candidate must have recent preoperative experience and the ability to work independently in a high-acuity environment.

Job Details

  • Schedule: Days shift, 10 hours per day, 40 hours per week, with potential for call.
  • Required Qualifications: Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse in the state or district. Graduate from an accredited or NLN-approved RN program. BSN degree highly desired. Must have at least 2 years of recent preoperative experience, excluding surgical center work. Certifications: PALS, BLS, and ACLS are required.
  • Monitor post-operative patients levels of recovery and consciousness from anesthesia and provide updates to the medical team.
  • Obtain and record patients vital signs.
  • Observe patients for signs of side effects of anesthesia medication.
  • Treat pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms of anesthesia, administering medication as prescribed.
  • Update charting (Electronic Medical Records), patient files, and medical records.
  • Educate patients and their families on post-surgery care and address questions.
  • Additional Information: Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility. Experience in PACU and preoperative care is required; surgical center experience is not sufficient. Critical thinking skills are essential.
