Description

Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Float Nurse in the healthcare provider's facility. This role involves providing general medical and surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population, managing various diagnoses and procedures, and supporting unit needs through floating to other medical units as required.

Job Details:

  • Position Description: The role requires experience in general medical-surgical nursing, including assessments, care planning, inter-professional communication, utilization of electronic health records, IV pumps, wound vacs, feeding pumps, feeding tubes, chest tubes, and management of heparin and insulin drips. Equipment used includes electronic record systems, pyxis machines, Accucheck blood glucose meters, hospira IV pumps, SCDs, heating/cooling pads, telemetry monitoring, and other clinical tools.
  • Required Qualifications: IN State or compact registered nurse license, minimum of 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary experience, and at least 1 year of experience at a facility with 450+ beds. Certifications include BLS and ACLS through AHA.
  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 3 weekend shifts in 4 weeks, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Additional Information: Candidate must have at least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary experience. A supplemental Jump Start orientation includes one day of general hospital orientation, then approximately five days of nursing orientation, including Epic classes. Floating to other medical units may be required, specifically to general medical units.
  • Submission Requirements: License to submit; willingness to wait for licensure confirmation.
