Job Summary
Medical Surgical (MS) Nurse in the Medical Surgical Floor specialty is needed at a healthcare facility. This role involves caring for adults with a variety of diagnoses, including stroke, altered mental status, renal issues, dialysis, COPD, CHF, isolation, pneumonia, and pulmonary problems. The position begins on October 26, 2026, and runs through January 23, 2027, with night shifts scheduled from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM.

Job Details

• Position Description:
  Unit: MS Stroke Stepdown Patients
  Shift: 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM (block scheduling is never promised or guaranteed)
  Float: Float rotation may be required.
  Scrub Color: Navy Blue
  Unit Specifics: Common diagnosis includes stroke, altered mental status, renal, dialysis, COPD, CHF, isolation, general med-surg, pneumonia, pulmonary issues.
  Specialty Equipment: IV pumps, N/G tubes, feeding tubes.
  Patient Demographics: Adults.
  Number of Beds in the Unit: 64.

• Required Qualifications:
  Certifications: Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); active NY license and all active RN licenses; valid drivers license matching demographics.
  Education Requirements: Up-to-date resume including 2+ years of experience in medical surgical units with stroke step-down experience, documenting travel experience.
  Location Requirements: Must be local (less than 75 miles from the facility).
  Experience: 0 years minimum.
  Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum 36 hours per week from 10/26/2026 to 01/23/2027.

• Additional Information:
  Submission requirements include an up-to-date resume, skills checklist matching the specialty, drivers license, current AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications. Active NY license verification via NURSYS report is required. RTO (reasons to omit time off) must be included at the time of submission. EMR experience with EPIC is preferred.
