Job Summary
Step Down Unit Nurse, Step Down Specialty, located in the healthcare provider's Midtown location. This position involves providing specialized nursing care to post-procedure cardiac, neuro, and multi-system patients within a 19-bed unit. The role requires a focus on assessment, critical thinking, and collaborative patient care.
Job Details
- Certifications: Current active compact license, AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, NIHSS all required upon submission.
- Education Requirements: Associate Degree or Certificate.
- Experience Requirements: Minimum of 2 solid years in Step Down nursing plus 1 travel contract, or 5 years of solid Step Down experience if no travel experience.
- Location Requirements: No specific geographic restrictions, but must meet licensing requirements.
- Schedule: 12-hour days, 36 hours per week.
- Additional Information: Requires recent EPIC charting experience and ability to interpret tele/12-lead EKGs (pass tele tests required). Responsibilities include post-heart cath care, initiating and titrating drips (such as Cardizem, Amio, Nitroglycerin, Insulin, Heparin), neuro assessments including NIHSS, sepsis care, chest tube management, and PIV insertion. The unit comprises 19 beds with a designated step down and medical/surgical patients. The role involves working in Navy blue scrubs with no competing health system or agency logos.
