Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor Nurse in the Midwest region. This position involves providing comprehensive nursing care in an adult medical specialty unit with a focus on acute care patients. The role requires clinical expertise in managing patients with conditions such as sepsis, dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, and behavioral health issues.

• Required Qualifications: Licensure in active Illinois license or confirmation of application, BLS certification, minimum of one year clinical experience, and current immunizations including negative drug screen.
• Responsibilities include managing acute medical conditions, working with patients requiring central lines, tracheostomies, chest tubes, and operating EPIC electronic health record system.
• Typical patient ratios are 1:4-5 during daytime hours and 1:5-6 overnight, with assistance from nurse aides and patient care techs.
• Telemetry monitors are remotely observed via Phillips monitors.
• The unit maintains a rotation that may include other acute care general medicine areas such as nephrology, neurology, orthopedics, and oncology.
• Scrubs can be any professional color, with a dress code enforcing no visible tattoos or piercings except ears.
• Orientation consists of 2-3 shifts, with mandatory weekend shifts every other weekend and variable holiday requirements.
