Job Summary
Labor and Delivery Nurse, L&D Department, located in the healthcare providers facility. This position involves providing obstetrical care during antepartum, intrapatum, immediate postpartum, and neonatal phases to patients in a labor and delivery setting. The role requires critical thinking, clinical competency, and effective communication to support safe deliveries and neonatal care.
Job Details
- Location: Facility-based position in the Labor and Delivery Department.
- Certification, Education, Degree, Location, and Experience Requirements: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications required; minimum of 2 years of experience in labor and delivery; must have previously completed at least two travel assignments in labor and delivery; ability to pass an EKG.
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week, with shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, including every other weekend, floating, and call responsibilities. Call requirements involve two 12-hour shifts every six weeks, with one weekend shift.
- Responsibilities include monitoring and assisting laboring patients, communicating with providers, circulating for Cesarean sections and vaginal deliveries, supporting newborn resuscitation, and recovering patients post-delivery.
- Additional information: Must demonstrate leadership, scientific judgment, and critical thinking skills; maintain clinical competencies through continuing education; deliver patient care in accordance with state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies; provide direction to staff.
- Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Scrub color: Navy blue.
- EMR: CPN (GE) and Cerner systems.
- Patient Ratio: 1:1 or 1:2, per AWHONN Staffing Standards.
- Number of beds: 13 (8 LDRs and 5 Triage Beds).
- No minimum experience required beyond stated qualifications.
