Job Summary
Medical Surgical Oncology Nurse (MS ONC) Location: Not Specified. This role involves providing specialized care to oncology patients in a medical-surgical unit. The position requires delivering assessments, IV starts, portacath access, and medication administration within a fast-paced environment dedicated to oncology care.

Job Details

  • Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse (RN) license, BLS certification; minimum of 2 years of experience, MS experience required; ability to be licensed or certified to practice in the state.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Onc Nursing Society (ONS) certification, Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (CHPN) preferred, Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.
  • Responsibilities: General assessments, IV starts, portacath access, medication administration, competence with chest tubes, central lines, heparin drips, and patient care in a Medical Surgical Oncology setting.
  • Additional Information: The unit has a patient ratio of 4-5:1 on days and 4-6:1 on nights. This unit supports various diagnoses including medical oncology, with specific skills needed for port access, IV therapy, and managing complex medical conditions. Call or standby responsibilities are required for low census periods, with floating to other units such as Heart Center, General Medicine, Post-Surgical, or Ortho-Neuro.
