Job Summary
The Medical Surgical Oncology Floor Nurse is positioned in an inpatient hospital setting within a general medical-surgical unit. Responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process, the nurse provides specialized care to a diverse patient population, including those undergoing active cancer treatment, post-surgical oncology cases, and patients requiring symptom management for complications. The role involves ensuring patient safety, comfort, and positive outcomes through collaboration and clinical excellence.

  • Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week, with all night shifts
  • Required Qualifications: Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina or one of the compact states by the day of clinical care; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; No minimum years of experience required
  • Preferred Qualifications: One (1) year of experience working in a registered nurse role in an acute care / inpatient hospital setting. Certifications: BLS - required
  • Additional Information: The nurse administers patient care under the direction of a physician, identifies expected patient outcomes, and reports and records care plans and patient responses. Responsibilities include organizing and prioritizing patient care, consulting with resources for complex cases, and fostering intra/interdepartmental communication. Competency in all required skills is necessary, with annual competency assessments. Adherence to policies, infection control principles, and safety standards is expected.
