Job Summary
Interventional Radiology (IR) Nurse The organizations healthcare provider is seeking an experienced nurse to join their Interventional Radiology team. This position involves performing general patient assessments, recognizing complications, and implementing radiation safety measures when applicable. The role requires effective communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members to deliver safe and efficient patient care.

Job Details

  • Position Description: Responsible for general patient assessment head-to-toe, including recognizing complications and understanding radiation safety measures when applicable. Explains procedures, addresses patient and family concerns, and collaborates with radiologists and team members. Capable of making critical decisions and acting in emergencies; adaptable to new environments and multitasking between departments.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, at least 1 year of nursing experience, nursing degree, and current CPR certification.
  • Schedule: Days shift, 8-hour shifts, with a minimum of 40 hours per week. Position includes rotating call coverage from Monday to Friday 4:30 PM to 7:30 AM and weekends from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, including holidays, for interventional radiology and CT procedures only.
  • Additional Information: Position involves procedures such as port placements/removals, line management, CT biopsies, drainage placements, neurovascular interventions for stroke, and sedation for diagnostic imaging. Common medications include Versed, Fentanyl, Cefazolin, Levaquin, Lidocaine, and Nitroglycerin Spray. No management of Propofol drips or pressors. Equipment used includes computers, ISTAT, ACT machines, Penumbra, IV pumps, and vital sign monitors. Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1 for procedural sedation.
