Job Summary
The Surgical Technician II (ORT - Operating Room Technician) role is based in the healthcare facility location. This position involves supporting the surgical team by preparing instruments and materials, assisting surgeons during procedures, and maintaining aseptic technique across various surgical cases, including complex procedures. This position requires readiness to support surgical procedures effectively and ensure patient safety.

Job Details

• Schedule: Rotating shifts with start times at 0645, 0900, or 1045; 10-hour shift; minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited surgical technology program recognized by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or military training, current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers, and certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or Tech in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) from the National Center for Competency Testing.
• Performs surgical support duties including passing instruments, preparing the surgical field, and performing counts of sharps and sponges.
• Ensures and maintains aseptic technique and proper functioning of surgical equipment.
• Demonstrates knowledge of medications, anatomic structures, and surgical procedures to assist effectively.
• Assists with patient transportation and indirect patient care activities as needed.
• Experience: 0 years minimum, with at least two years of relevant work experience preferred.
• Knowledge and understanding of normal/abnormal anatomy/physiology, surgical procedures, and safety protocols is essential.
• The position may involve supporting uncooperative or combative patients in a safe manner and requires the ability to work independently and foster effective team relationships.
• CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) experience is required.
