Description
Job Summary:
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) registered nurse position in a healthcare setting located in the region encompassing multiple hospitals. The role involves providing critical care to ventilated patients with diagnoses such as respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, sepsis, and DKA. The position requires working night shifts and floating between units as needed, with a focus on maintaining high standards of patient care in a fast-paced environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts with a minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications; two or more years of ICU experience; licensed to practice as a registered nurse within the state; willing to wait for license submission
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with ventilated patients, cath lab recovery, therapeutic hypothermia; familiarity with critical drips such as sedation, pressors, diuretics, insulin, amiodarone; ability to read telemonitor strips and manage various ventilators and life support equipment
- Float: Float rotation may be required, primarily ICU with occasional assignments to PCU and medical-surgical units when needed
- Additional Information: The role involves working in an acute care setting with a focus on complex patient care, including ventilated patients and those undergoing advanced therapies. The unit operates with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 2:1 in ICU and 3:1 in PCU under normal circumstances. Scheduled orientation includes 1-12 hour shifts, and the position may require working every other weekend and rotating holiday shifts. There is no call or standby requirement for this assignment.
