Description

Job Summary:
Surgical Technician (ORT) in a healthcare setting. This position involves assisting the surgical team in the operating room by preparing sterile equipment, assisting during surgical procedures, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. The technician will work in a small team covering orthopedics operating rooms with rotating daylight shifts, including on-call weekend coverage.

Job Details:

Schedule: Day shifts, rotating weekly (approximately 5:30 AM 8:00 PM, 6:30 AM 3:00 PM, and 7:30 AM until procedure completion), with weekend on-call coverage from 6 AM to 6 PM (two weekends required in a six-week cycle).
Required Qualifications: Must have completed a program sponsored by a nationally recognized accreditation, maintain certification, or meet grandfathered employment criteria under PA legislation enacted 12/27/2020. A minimum of two years of experience as a surgical technologist, with certifications including Basic Life Support (BLS), Certified Surgical Technologists (CST), or Tech in Surgery-Certified (TSC).
Responsibilities:
- Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring all sterilization standards are met.
- Prepare patients for surgery by aseptic techniques and assist with positioning and sterile draping.
- Assist during surgeries by passing instruments and supplies, holding retractors, and helping with specimen disposal.
- Post-operatively, help transfer patients to recovery and clean and restock the operating room.
Additional Information:
- Must be flexible to work past scheduled hours when necessary.
- No travel required.
- The team consists of 6 staff members, covering 2 orthopedic operating rooms, with minimal call during the week.
- This position is scheduled from 09/21/2026 to 12/19/2026, with 40 hours per week, working 8 hours per day.
