Description
Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Postpartum Nurse (L&D PP) This position is located on the postpartum floor. The role involves caring for women during labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery. The Nurse will provide specialized maternal and neonatal care, adhering to established clinical protocols and safety standards to ensure the health and well-being of mothers and newborns.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per day, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications:
- One (1) year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- License, Certification, Registration required: Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided), Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Demonstrated ability to perform electronic fetal monitoring
- Demonstrated IV Skills and ability to perform lab draws
- Demonstrated knowledge of high-risk medication administration (Magnesium/Oxytocin/Insulin)
- Demonstrated ability to perform Urine Point of Care testing
- Demonstrated knowledge of capillary blood glucose testing
- Demonstrated knowledge of IStat and adult cardiac monitoring
- Demonstrated knowledge of newborn monitors including pulse oximetry and cardiac monitoring
- Demonstrated ability to perform heel sticks/venipuncture on newborns
- Demonstrated knowledge of newborn medication including IV administration and maintenance
- Demonstrated knowledge of Bili-blankets/lights and radiant warmers
- Demonstrated knowledge to support gynecological teaching and post-operative bladder training
- Demonstrated knowledge to support maternal-newborn teaching
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in nursing or related field
- Minimum of three (3) years of labor and delivery experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of postpartum experience
- Minimum of one (1) year of medical/surgical nursing experience
- Additional Information:
- This role involves providing comprehensive maternal and neonatal patient care on the postpartum unit, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, performing procedures, and supporting patient education. Candidates must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and demonstrate strong clinical skills for high risk and routine postpartum care.
